We’re looking to hire a Sr. Communication Specialist for a Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical client . Team culture is based on open communication, accountability, and collaboration.

My direct Fortune 500 client is a full service in-house creative agency looking for someone to join the Communications team to drive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) excellence by developing, coordinating, and implementing improvement programs. The position elevates facility standards and fosters a proactive safety culture across the organization within the designated area of responsibility.

This is a 12 – month contract + possible extension and possible convert to perm. The team is located in Worcester, MA , and the role is on-site 3 days/week (2 days/week remote). Onward Search provides benefits for 40 hour work week and weekly paychecks (W2) for duration of the contract.

Sr. Communication Specialist Responsibilities:

• Design and execute comprehensive EHS programs, training, and policies to minimize incidents and ensure regulatory and company compliance.
• Provide EHS leadership and strategic guidance to all levels of staff within the designated area.
• Establish and maintain systems that guarantee legal and ethical EHS compliance.
• Lead employee education on EHS best practices, precautions, and procedures.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the EHS long-range plan with strategic and tactical direction.
• Represent the company in external EHS matters with regulatory agencies and non-governmental organizations.
• Maintain expert knowledge of local, regional, and global EHS regulations and practices.
• Ensure strict adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA's PSM, EPA's RMP, and other relevant standards (Mechanical Integrity, PCI, DOT, EPA).
• Cultivate a strong safety culture by implementing strategies to prevent injuries, accidents, and losses, ensuring adherence to company safety, security, and hygiene standards.

Sr. Communication Specialist Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in an EHS-related field or Engineering with 5-12 years of relevant EHS experience, OR Master's degree in an EHS-related field or Engineering with 5-8 years of relevant EHS experience.
• Proven EHS experience within manufacturing or laboratory environments is essential.
• Preferred Certification: Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative occupational hygiene risk assessments and exposure monitoring, including developing monitoring strategies, generating technical reports, and providing risk mitigation recommendations.
• Strong working knowledge of implementing EHS regulations, conducting risk assessments, performing root cause analysis, leading incident investigations, and effectively interacting with regulatory agencies and external organizations. Experience managing cross-functional teams is required.
• Ability to develop practical, business-aligned EHS standards and policies. Excellent technical writing and business communication skills.
• Proven ability to actively listen, build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and resolve conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects and programs.
